Postliberalism: A Prolegomenon for Reparative Democracy
Liberal democracy is in crisis, but such crises are always the scene for the emergence of new forms. While the Right has developed a substantive intellectual and political postliberalism, the Left tends to remain focused on critiques of capitalism and/or restoring liberal democracy, ignoring the task of developing democratic futures apart from those contoured by liberalism. This talk argues for a postliberal democracy, one that has political economy, political ecology and a reparative rather than progressive orientation at its heart. It is the prologue for a project on “reparative democracy.”

Wendy Brown är en amerikansk politisk teoretiker, som utmärkt sig bland annat genom sitt sätt att sammanföra Marx, Nietzsche och Foucault och genom sina arbeten om nyliberalism och nykonservatism. Hon är verksam vid University of California, Berkeley. År 2025 utsågs hon till hedersdoktor vid Södertörns högskola.
